PBC 2008 - Pursue_

Wow, lots of things have happened since the last time I posted here so I will start with camp and add a few more new posts in the near future.

I thought camp went really well this year. For the past few years Curt has sort of been running behind us with his hand still on the bicycle seat but this was the first year that he let go and we pedaled away on our own. I thought that Danny and DK did a great job this year! I know they were busy because it seemed as if I didn't see them much. We tried some new things this year that I thought went reasonably well, dinner theater talent show being one of them. I want to give a big round of applause to Stephen for designing and building the wooden structure that protected our audio table. It was great to be able to mix from a more appropriate location within the Ark. I have to admit that I was hesitant when he first approached me with the idea, but it turned out great! I look forward to using it for many years to come.

I think the best part of the week was the campers! I was really impressed with them. I think we had a really great group of kids this year. They all seemed to be really active and involved in whatever was going on. The Ark was always full of kids playing basketball or four square (a game I played in middle school). I am really looking forward to our next meeting so I can read all the camper surveys.

We already have some working ideas for 2009 and I think it's going to be really cool! I took one of the stones that we wrote the word Pursue on and placed it on my desk at the office. It is a great memento from our week but better yet it really does help me to focus on pursuing the way of Christ (thanks Mike D). Speaking of Mike Darling, the worship rocked! Worship at camp is always excellent, but Mike Darling did a great job leading us into His presence.

Oh yeah, and Robin's cookouts were very excellent as well. Thanks for sharing your gift of hospitality!

I really am looking forward to 2009 already although I admit it's nice to have a break from that feeling of "I really need to be working on camp!".

More posts to come...
